What is a popsicle?
A liquid-based frozen snack on a stick is known as an ice pop. Unlike ice cream or sorbet, which are whipped while freezing to prevent crystals from forming, an ice pop is "quiescently" frozen—that is, frozen while still at rest—and solidifies into a solid chunk of ice. To hold it, the stick is utilized as a handle.
About Zoku
Our space, located in the heart of Hoboken, New Jersey, is a place where creativity thrives, risks are encouraged, and possibilities are limitless. We are inspired by our surroundings, getting our hands dirty with prototypes and learning through collaboration, building, tasting, and exploring. Our large test kitchen serves as a backdrop for tasting new recipes, bouncing ideas back and forth, and is frequently where we all gather for lunch.
It all started with a seemingly simple idea: what if we could speed up the freezing of popsicles? Our Quick Pop Maker was born after months of research, testing, and prototyping. We knew we were onto something, and Williams-Sonoma quickly agreed, hiring us for the holiday season.
From product innovation to packaging to office supplies, design is at the heart of everything we do. Zoku designs can be found in The Henry Ford Museum, the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design, and on thousands of kitchen counters around the world. Our proudest accomplishments include a handful of very touching letters from our customers, but we've also been recognized as an IDEA finalist (not to mention a Silver and Bronze recipient), a GOOD Design Award, mentions on Wired.com, and a National Parenting Seal of Approval by the Industrial Designers Society of America.
