WHAT ARE THE INGREDIENTS IN THINK?
Let's have a look at the 3 ingredients that work together synergistically to make THINK work.*
GINKGO BILOBA
WHAT IS IT?
The ginkgo tree, native to China, has been found in fossils dating back 270 million years, and may be the oldest tree species alive today. The leaves of the ginkgo tree have been used in traditional Chinese herbal medicine to treat a wide range of ailments for thousands of years, especially for circulatory disorders and memory decline.
In the modern world gingko is used in the form of standardized ginkgo biloba leaf extract, both for clinical studies and therapeutic treatments. Scientific studies have proven ginkgo to be a safe and effective treatment for a variety of ailments due to its protective effects against mitochondrial damage and oxidative stress. The active elements of ginkgo extracts are flavonoids and terpenoids, both of which have strong antioxidant properties that help slow down the progression of age-related diseases.
WHAT DOES IT DO?
Ginkgo has been widely studied for its effective anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, platelet-forming and circulation-boosting effects. Studies have shown ginkgo to improve cognitive function and memory, increase energy, create a positive mood, and treat dementia and ADHD.*
According to the International Journal of Phyotherapy and Phytopharmacology, ginkgo biloba is “currently the most investigated and adopted herbal remedy for cognitive disorders and Alzheimer's disease (AD).*
While ginkgo can help improve cognitive performance and memory in both older and younger adults, it seems to be especially useful for age-related mental decline. Because ginkgo may help the body to lower the stress hormones, cortisol, and adrenaline, it can also help to treat issues of stress as well as possible general mood and emotional health support.*
Due to its ability to improve circulation throughout the body gingko can be beneficial for eye health, and because it also increases blood flow to the lower part of the body, can be helpful for erectile dysfunction. These benefits to circulation also make ginkgo a remedy for those with frequent headaches, and it can reduce the rate and severity of migraines.*
PHOSPHATIDYLSERINE
WHAT IS IT?
Phosphatidylserine (PS) is a phospholipid, which is a fatty compound that surrounds all of the cells in our body, and which provide us with cellular structure and protection. PS works synergistically with the omega-3 fatty acids (found in fish oils) to build and maintain healthy cell membranes.
WHAT DOES IT DO?
Some of the functions of PS include: cell repair, heartbeat regulation, bone matrix formation, and hormone secretion from the adrenal glands (helping to keep cortisol levels in check). PS serves many important functions in the body but it is of critical value for the brain where it is found in high amounts. Studies have shown PS to improve cognitive function, mood and memory, especially in the elderly, and to actually repair brain cells damaged due to head trauma.*
While not a cure, PS has been shown to reduce symptoms of Alzheimer's disease and dementia, in those with mild versions of these diseases. As well, it has been proven to treat ADHD, by improving mental focus, and improve athletic performance due to improving focus and reducing cortisol levels. For athletes, PS will also decrease muscle damage following vigorous exercise.*
By affecting neurotransmitter levels in the brain, PS has a positive effect on mood, easing symptoms of by raising levels of dopamine, a neurotransmitter that also mitigates the symptoms of Parkinson's disease. By lowering levels of the stress hormone cortisol, it may also help with symptoms of stress and nervousness.*
CITICOLINE
WHAT IS IT?
Citicoline (cytidine diphosphate choline) is an intermediate nutrient used in the generation of phosphatidylcholine from choline, a common biochemical process in cell membranes. Studies have shown it to support memory in patients with age-associated memory impairment, and brain cell recovery from injuries such as stroke or concussion.
WHAT DOES IT DO?
Citicoline increases the production of important neurotransmitters, including acetylcholine, norepinephrine, dopamine, and serotonin, all of which are required for mood balance and memory. As well, it supports the nerves in the eye, and studies have proven to be helpful for treating those with "lazy-eye" and other vision disorders.*
Unlike taking just phosphatidylserine, or any other single phospholipid, Citicoline boosts the brain's production of a number of the main phospholipids, including phosphatidylserine, phosphatidylcholine, phosphatidylinositol, and phosphatidylethanolamine.*
These phospholipids are essential for the synthesis of neurotransmitters and the proper functioning of cell membranes in the brain, both necessary factors for healthy cognitive function.*
Citicoline supports cognitive performance, memory, and mood, and is required for the health and function of brain cells during aging, or after a brain injury.*
